Morgan Stanley is looking for an experienced Java Full Stack Developer at Director level to join its Enterprise Technology – Workforce Technology & Services team. This role blends hands-on engineering with technical leadership, focusing on building robust, scalable, and secure enterprise applications that solve real business problems.
You will work closely with global business stakeholders and engineering teams to design, develop, and deliver high-quality solutions using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and modern frontend frameworks like Angular or React. Beyond coding, you’ll mentor team members, contribute to architecture decisions, and ensure engineering best practices are followed across the development lifecycle.
This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy ownership, architecture discussions, mentoring, and working in a global, fast-paced financial services environment.
What you’ll do:
- Design and develop core Java-based enterprise applications
- Build and maintain RESTful services using Spring and Spring Boot
- Develop modern UI components using Angular or React
- Mentor junior engineers and lead by example with high-quality code
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture and integration standards
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Participate in design, architecture, and Agile sprint planning discussions
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across applications and databases
- Support CI/CD pipelines and continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with globally distributed teams across multiple time zones
Key Technical Skills:
Core Java, Spring, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Angular, React, J2EE, SQL Databases, Unix/Linux, Git, Jenkins, Agile, DevOps, CI/CD
Requirements:
- 4+ years of relevant professional experience in Java full stack development
- Strong hands-on experience with Core Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and REST APIs
- Experience with Angular or React for frontend development
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Design and development principles
- Experience building server-side applications using J2EE technologies
- Strong database skills including data modeling and performance tuning
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments
- Experience with JUnit, TDD, BDD (Cucumber, Gherkin, Concordion)
- Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and DevOps integration
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working with globally distributed teams
- Prior exposure to cloud-based applications
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
